How Authentic Feet Restored Trust in Its Store Data

About Authentic Feet

Authentic Feet, part of the Afeet Group, is one of Brazil's leading athletic lifestyle and athleisure retail chains, with 29 years of experience in the market. Like most brick-and-mortar retailers that rely on in-store customer service, its commercial performance depends heavily on two key metrics: store traffic and conversion rate.

Challenge

Lack of confidence in operational data. The traffic counting solution previously used by the company generated distorted numbers because it was unable to exclude employees from the count. This compromised the accuracy of the conversion rate and the evaluation of store performance. As a result, management decisions and team assessments were based on inconsistent information.

Objectives

Based on this diagnosis, the project had four clear goals:

  • Achieve reliable, auditable traffic counting.
  • Recalculate store conversion rates using accurate data.
  • Use these metrics to support day-to-day management decisions.
  • Deploy AlterVision across 100% of the store network.

Process

AlterVision replaced the previous traffic counting solution with an AI-powered people counting system. Instead of requiring additional hardware, the technology leverages the stores' existing security cameras to measure customer traffic and transform it into actionable management insights.

As a result, traffic data stopped being something that required constant verification and became a metric management could simply trust.

This had an immediate impact on daily operations. Store managers no longer needed to continuously log into the platform to verify whether the numbers made sense or repeatedly contact support to request recalibrations—a routine that, according to the operations manager, consumed valuable management time.

With data accuracy exceeding 90%, the company began using traffic insights to schedule sales associates according to actual peak traffic periods, ensuring more staff were available when customer demand was highest. The now-accurate conversion rate also became a reliable metric for operational adjustments and performance management, allowing store goals to be based on numbers the business could finally trust.

According to the operations manager, the implementation process was supported closely by the AlterVision team—from recommending installation service providers to providing training materials, online training sessions, and ongoing assistance whenever questions arose.

What Changed

With AlterVision, the weakest link in the decision-making process was eliminated. Traffic and conversion data became reliable operational metrics that managers could confidently use in their daily decisions.

Two practical examples illustrate this transformation:

Workforce Allocation

The company now schedules sales associates based on actual customer traffic peaks rather than rough estimates, helping stores improve sales opportunities during the busiest hours.

Sales Performance Feedback

Performance conversations with sales associates are now based on conversion rates that management knows are accurate.

There was also a less visible—but equally important—improvement: the time previously spent validating data and requesting recalibrations was redirected toward managing store operations and improving performance.

Customer Testimonial

"Today, with AlterVision, our data is much more accurate, and that level of accuracy gives us real peace of mind. I no longer have to constantly log into the platform or repeatedly contact support asking for recalibration just to make sure everything is working correctly. Today, the credibility and trust we have in AlterVision's technology within our business is outstanding. We've saved a tremendous amount of time with AlterVision."
